Different smtp relay for regular mail vs. mass mailings
February 06, 2015, 02:32:19 am
Hi

I have a civicrm installation (4.5.5) for which I activated a special SMTP Service for mass mailings.
Works fine, but for good reasons, the processing time at the relay is optimized. (maximum 'white listing')
This processing time can run up to more than an hour... which is too long for regular mail-traffic.

Would it be feasable to define two different smtp servers? One for mass mailing, one for normal mail?
Google/forum havn't learned me nothing.

Perhaps I'm not using the right search-terms?

Thanks for any help!

Erwin

Hi

Just a quick reminder to see if someone might have a clue on my question?

I suppose I can do something with the settings file, but there are so many instances in civi where the mail function is used: how could I detect whether I am in the Mail context of a mass mailing, or just a mail to confirm a subscription eg?

What I'm considering to do is create a script, launched from the top menu, to switch de mailing_backend record in the database(civicrm_setting), just before a mass mailing starts off, showing in the top banner which setting is active... and switch back afterwards...

If someone has a better idea, it would be more than welcome!

Kind regards and thanks in advance.

ERwin
