Hello,
I have upgraded two of our sites recently from 4.5.3 to 4.5.5, and then to 4.5.6, and noticed the same new behavior. If I try to create a new event, the New Event page comes up fine. Notice that the Complete Description editor section is sitting there just fine. Now, if I select any event template, the Complete Description section disappears. The label is still there, but the editor is gone.

Joomla 3.3.6, MySQL 5.5.40, PHP 5.4.32.

Can you check with Firebug for Firefox if there are any JS errors on that page?
