Location for events

Location only has an address. i think in the old civicrm 1.9 it allowed a location name i.e. building name.

That's true - location name for events was removed from user interface during location schema rework. From what we understand, most of people are using other fields to expose location's name. Do you have a specific case where getting it back would be beneficial?

Thx,
m

I only thought it would be helpfull if your naming the building ..    such as the " The Chrysler Building "  as the location name

Re: Location for events (bring back location name)

I can think of many instances where the location name is important:
 * a building with a name, particularly at colleges/universities/institutions that have named buildings
 * any event taking place at a venue: "The Theater At MSG", "The Tank", "Citizen Space", "Giraffe Labs"
  * or restaurant or bar: "Spitfire" "BalMar Room" etc...

I can't imagine the compelling reason to have removed a location NAME from the the location schema, i would really imagine that most events that have a location would also want to have a location name, even if it were an event being held at someone's home "The Heller Residence" or an organization's offices.

how do you get the address name to display? I set up an event and filled in the 'Address Name' box but it is not displayed on the event info page. I checked the Address Name box in Admin CiviCRM>Global Settings>Address Settings page...

I'm using 2.14

Hello

I see the following code in Location.tpl for events but no location name is displayed for events (even on the demo site). I tried changing it to address_name but still no effect. Any inputs?

 <div class="form-item">
       <span class="labels">
         <label>{$form.location.1.name.label}</label>
       </span>
       <span class="fields">
        {$form.location.1.name.html|crmReplace:class:big}
       </span>
    </div>

Thanks
Vivek
