Language translation issue

Dear engineers,

This is apparao, i am very new to civicrm . I am facing a porblem with language convertion, Can any one help me?
The problem is i will upload a csv format file, and i can select the target language (translate language) .The csv format file contains english data (US-language)  need to convert to japanise, or argentina, .... language. For that we need some require files pot file, .mo file , .po file . I know how to create and  convert mo file to po file and po file to mo file. But what is pot file , can any one explain me and Please tell me the complete process for converting from language to another language .

You may want to ask your question in the Internationalisation and Localisation section of this forum (http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,10.0.html), where all the translation and language specialists hang out?
