Assign Drupal Role on profile submission if user creation is enabled..
February 16, 2015, 05:18:04 am
hi,

We often have requirement to create a user on a civi profile submission. There is an option in advance setting of profile "Drupal user account registration option?" which has 3 options. It is sometimes require to assign a specific Drupal Role to user which is getting created on submission of the profile. Having a feature to assign role for Option number 2:"Give option, but not required " and 3: "Account creation required" would be nice.

Recently we encountered this kind of the requirement from 3 of our clients. We completed it by writing a drupal moduls and using civi Hook. But i feel it would be nice to have this option in Advance setting of civi profiles.

We can addup this feature if core team feel that it would be nice to have it.

I guess this role assignment could also be done by adding the contact submitting the profile to a Group and using the Group-sync module that is packaged with the Drupal version of CiviCRM. Or maybe using Rules.

Having the option available directly from within the CiviCRM UI would simplify, but I don't know how that would fit with the notion of a CMS-agnostic CiviCRM?
