Contact Summary issues
February 22, 2015, 04:43:05 am
When I go to Contact Summary in CiviCase I am not able to change type, status or open date. When I try to open these options, I get the message:

Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.

... and an error message:

Sorry an Error Occured required params missing.

I am using version 4.5.5, but have checked the demo version (which is 4.5.6) and this error does not occur in that version.

Is this a bug in version 4.5.5 or does it look like some other issue?

There have been no changes to coding, only the usual variations allowed via administration.

Has any one any ideas on what is causing the problems and, more importantly, what to do about correcting it?

There's a log, usually in sites/default/files/civicrm/ConfigAndLog, that gives more info like what file the error is happening in.

Have you disabled any of the related activity types, like Change Case Status ?

In the url, are there any parameters that have no value, e.g. if you hover over the pencil icon for change case status it looks something like this (can also right-click and copy location):
http://d45.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/case/activity?action=add&reset=1&cid=158&caseid=1&selectedChild=activity&atype=16

Do any of the parameters have blanks, like just cid= instead of cid=158.

Thanks for your response. You did, in fact, point me in the right direction.

When I was experimenting with CiviCase, I opened a Housing Support case as a test. I then deleted it and subsequently tried to delete Housing Support as a case type. For some strange reason, that said that I couldn't do that as I has three cases linked to that case type ... so I disabled it instead.

I have since gone in and deleted the test case that I created and this seems to have done the trick.

I am still confused, though, as to why I cannot delete Housing Support and why it should tell me I still have 2 cases linked to this type. I had not used CiviCase until version 4.5.5 and so I would not have had any residual cases that would have been imported as part of an upgrade.

I know from previous discussions on this forum there has been an issue about not being able to permanently delete cases rather than just hide them.  When you are initially playing with CiviCase to set it up, creating test cases would be normal I guess but not being able to delete them after is frustrating.
