Batch Update via Profile does not load existing custom field values into grid
February 23, 2015, 09:47:46 am
Off the top, we are using version 4.2.19. I know we're not up to date, but it's taking us a long while to upgrade to4.4/ 4.5, so I thought I'd take a shot at fixing this issue in 4.2 in the meantime, if I can, as it's blocking some work getting done.  I'd appreciate any pointers or help.

The issue is very similar to this old bug: https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2736.

Basically, custom field values do not show up in the grid when we try and Batch Update participant records using a Profile.  The values never get shown in the grid itself (which means we can't properly update them).  It is only Custom fields that have the problem - any core fields (Participant Role, Status, etc) show the values properly, even after updating.

The funny thing is, I went to the 4.2 demo site (http://drupal.demo42.civicrm.org), which seems to be running 4.2.20, and all works well over there - there might have been a fix between 4.2.19 and 4.2.20.  But I can't find the 4.2.20 download anywhere on sourceforge nor do I see any bugs associated/fixed in that issue in the Bug Tracker.

I'm hoping this may be a quick fix or I can get a link to 4.2.20, it would really help us out in a big way if we can have this fixed in 4.2 while we keep on the upgrade path to 4.4 and 4.5.

Thanks!

The version on the demo sites is usually " the next version to be released" as any new bug fixes etc are ( roughly speaking) being applied progressively to that site.

So version 4.2.19 was released, but version 4.2.20 was not.

Probably this was because the LTS version was switched to the 4.4 series before 4.2.20 was released.

Does the 4.4 demo work the way you want it to? If so broaden your search on the issue tracker to include fixes for the 4.3.and 4.4 series.   that should find the issue, and hence PR, for this bug.

How many fields?  Batch update limits it to 9 by default.
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

I've used a profile that has only 2 fields and see the same issue.  Our main profile only has 5 total fields, three of which are custom and only those custom ones don't show the values.
