HTTP error -1 occurred when trying to fetch http://sourceforge.net/projects/civi
March 11, 2015, 01:03:10 pm
When I try to download civicrm-4.5.8-drupal.tar.gz from the Drupal admin modules page,  I paste the path:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.5.8/civicrm-4.5.8-drupal.tar.gz/download

but I'm getting the following error:

HTTP error -1 occurred when trying to fetch http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.5.8/civicrm-4.5.8-drupal.tar.gz/download.
Unable to retrieve Drupal project from http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.5.8/civicrm-4.5.8-drupal.tar.gz/download.

I've tried multiple versions like 4.5.6 etc...

Yet I can run:

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.5.8/civicrm-4.5.8-drupal.tar.gz/download

from my ssh and it works like a boss.

Thanks for any insight.

That sourceforge link goes through a couple redirects before it finally resolves to a file. Wget automatically follows redirects. I guess Drupal doesn't.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Try removing the trailing "/download" part
