Is there a version for Joomla3 of Civi Membership Authentication And ACL plugin, I only see for Joomla1.5/1.6.

Here's what i want to do:
When membership expires, remove from civi group "member", set to civi group "expired".
Remove from joomla usergroup "member" to joomla usergroup "registered". This part can be done with civicrm Group Sync (which is super handy).

Is the future approach doing so in scheduled jobs? This would work nicely if i could set my contacts group to change based on membership status.
Any thoughts? How are other people doing this?
