Bounces with CiviMail mailings
June 09, 2008, 01:35:58 pm
Using version 2.0.4 with Drupal 5.7.

 I have my global SMTP server settings correct and I'm sending my CiviMail mailing to a couple of my e-mail addresses as a test.  I schedule the mailing and run cron.  The mailing goes, but the mailing bounces to both of my e-mails = they are VALID e-mails so not sure why they are bouncing.  Here's the message I'm getting in CiviMail:

Unknown      June 9th, 2008 2:30 PM
   Host   Connection refused   June 9th, 2008 2:30 PM

The first unknown one is my work e-mail address.  The second "host" connection refused one is my gmail address.

Any ideas on why this is happening and what a fix is?

Thanks.

Hi,

Can you access the logs on your smtp server ? The information might be more detailled.

Can you send test mails ?

No, the test e-mails don't go either - at least I don't receive them at the e-mail account I put in to send the test to.

Also, the server logs (according to Hostmonster) show that the e-mails did get sent.  For some reason though CiviCRM is showing them as bounced.

Also, I'm running cron manually - does this cause any issues?

I'm trying it again this morning and I'll let you know what happens.

Does the "test" mailing rely on CRON to make it go?

Additionally when I run cron manually (via Web browser URL) I get the following error:

     Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

    not connected

    Return to home page.

Error Details:

Array
(
    [callback] => Array
        (

  • => CRM_Core_Error
  • [1] => handle
            )

Code: [Select]
=>
    [message] => not connected
    [mode] => 16
    [debug_info] =>
    [type] => PEAR_Error
    [user_info] =>
    [to_string] => [pear_error: message="not connected" code=0 mode=callback callback=CRM_Core_Error::handle prefix="" info=""]
)

It still seems to work.  The mailing says it was sent.  But I do get the above cron error.

This is sooooo frustrating!

Hi,

No the test don't use the cron

Is there a special configuration on your server for the mail function of php ? is it activated or are you running on a limited mode ?
