Quick search problem

One of my users sees a problem from time to time in Quicksearch where she types the search argument, but the selection screen is still popped up so search doesn't work.  Screen print attached.  I can't reproduce this, and we think it may possibly be a very slow network.  Anyone else seen this?

Perhaps it's specific to the browser she's using? Or somehow related to her user/permissions? Would be good to get specifics on how to reproduce.
