Newbie Questions
March 23, 2015, 03:11:52 pm
We just fired up a new site on Civi Hosting and are preparing to import membership data. Playing around with I have discovered a couple of things that are a little odd:

  • The Configuration Checklist features have turned red again. I walked through each and every one yesterday and they turned green. Is this normal?
  • I get an Access Denied page when using the action links on the Search Results. However if I click the contact's name or tick it and choose Edit from the Actions dropdown it loads the form no problem.
  • Similar to above- many popup forms cough up a network error. Not all... just some.
  • All of the address forms have City, Zip, Country then State. I have specified the order under Address Settings but it still shows them in that order.
  • A sample PDF Letter had a token visible at the bottom: [domain.address] was displayed even though this field has data.

Any suggestions or advice for solutions to these will be appreciated.

1. The configuration page just uses the cheap trick of a:visited to turn the links green. It isn't really keeping track of whether you've done them or not.
2-3. See http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,35850.0.html
4. I think those settings affect output but not input. Country needs to come before state because the selection of the first affects the choices in the latter.
5. I think the token is supposed to use curly brackets not square.

Thank you!

re: 5... it actually did have curly brackets. This is what was in the footer of the PDF:

Our mailing address is:
{domain.address}

I just realized the template I used for my test is probably set up for email. Is that possibly why it looked like that?

Can you make sure your domain (aka default organization) actually does have an address?

It does.

And in other news.... the popup edit links work today. I tried several examples, then turned logging and backtrace back off. They still work! Odd.
