[solved] CiviCRM doesn't show up in Drupal admin menu
March 27, 2015, 03:45:59 am
I installed CiviCRM 4.5.8 on a fresh Drupal 7.35 instance. I didn't tewak anything. The only non-standard thing is using German as the language. Even after a complete new installation with dropping all tables in both databases (Drupal and CiviCRM) I ended up with the same problem:

The CiviCRM menu item in the Drupal menu just doesn't show up.

I can still access and use CiviCRM by visiting the proper link, but there is just no link in the menu.

I found some people who - a few years ago - had a similar problem with older versions. They could get the CiviCRM menu item by just disabling the CiviCRM module on the Drupal modules page, saving the configuration and enabling it again. Unfortunately this doesn't change anything in my case. Can anyone give me clues?

Not sure what may have happened, but you can edit Drupal menus as you wish--just add the link wherever you want it.

Thanks for the hint. I also thought about this, but wasn't sure where to find the administration menu.

Finally I found an auto-generated CiviCRM menu item in the Drupal menu tree, but it wasn't a child of the administration category. I can only guess it doesn't show up because it is a child of "configuration". I tried to solve the problem by making it a child of the administration. But the link not only opened the proper page. It also opened an empty overlay. Since for some reason links of automatic menu items can't be edited I couldn't get rid of the overlay-link and therefore in the end I just made my own entry with a fully working link.
