Upgrade to Joomla 3.4.1 and CiviCRM 4.6.0 - issues with IcoMoon admin icons
April 14, 2015, 12:32:37 pm
Hi all,

I've just performed a Joomla and CiviCRM upgrade due to some issues with the activity form not loading user info properly (I found out that was down to the JCE editor - changed that to use TinyMCE and it is fine) anyhow I updated to 4.6.0 and then had issues with the new mailing screens in J 2.5 so went through the Joomla 3.4.1 upgrade.

All went well but for some reason the Joomla admin icons in the backend are not loading properly. I am seeing letters and characters instead of the icons - see screenshot.

I've updated loads of Joomla sites and never had this issue, this is the first to have CiviCRM though. I'm finding it hard to debug why the IcoMoon font is not being replaced. I wonder if anyone might have experienced this before or might know how to fix it? Could it be some sort of Bootstrap conflict? I've cleared all the caches etc..

Strangely they are loaded fine in iOS on an iPad and in an Android Smartphone but they are not loaded in IE, FF or Chrome and I've tried multiple computers.

Thanks so much for your time,

Dave

I assume you cleared your browser cache?
It would seem some css is overwriting the default system css file.

CiviCRM doesn't load any of its resources (except for the quick icon) on the Joomla control panel page. It's not until you actually enter CiviCRM that resources are loaded. So I don't think it's related to Civi. I would look at your page source and see what css files are getting loaded. Maybe that can give you a clue as to the source.

Thanks for the quick response!

Yes cleared all caches, I've looked at the page source and also changed all templates to standard Joomla templates to see if it was template related css, no joy.

I'll keep digging around and see if I can find something, if you have any more thoughts they would be appreciated.

Thanks again,

Dave

Found it, there was a particular line in my .htaccess that was blocking access to a required file.

Thanks for your help,

Dave
