Runtime error in IE7
June 05, 2007, 08:25:58 am
I'm using a profile for a newsletter sign up (no custom fields, just standard), I only looked at it with the FF2 so I didn't notice until now
when clicking the menu item for the sign up in IE7 I get the following error:

There was a runtime error,
do you want to start debug mode?
line:1
error: ';' expected

I can click on either yes or no (but no debug mode is started) and the form works - the contact is added
so it doesn't seems to be a big error ...it is annoying though
any ideas what could cause this?  ???

here are some of my settings:
Joomla V1.0.11
CiviCRM 1.7.9682
joomfish V1.7 (2006-05-01)
XAMPP for Windows Version 1.5.1
PHP Version 5.1.1
Database (on another Server):
phpMyAdmin 2.7.0-pl1
MySQL 5.0.22-Debian_0ubuntu6.06.3-log

You might start by using FireFox's Web Developer plugin to validate the HTML, Javascript and CSS on your page and see if any obvious errors come up. Also, we've had some reports of bad behavior in profile forms when many/all countries and provinces are enabled under Localization (the form winds up having HUGE select fields w/ hundreds of entries).

Thanks for the tip. We were running into this problem with a CiviContribute form in Civi 1.8 on Joomla. The page would load painfully slow in FF and would cause the runtime error/debugging pop-up window in IE 6 and 7.

Our form had about 6 fields for countries and states/provinces. After removing all the countries and states/provinces under Localization and gradually adding back the ones we needed, everything worked out.

Thanks again!   ;D
