Job purpose

We’re seeking a candidate for part-time work who has been developing sites with Wordpress for the past 3+ years. You should be well versed in Internet technologies and applications and will primarily be responsible for creating, building, testing, and troubleshooting web sites, web applications and scripts in a very fast-paced environment. You’ll be working with our graphic designers and communications team to create innovative online solutions.

Duties and responsibilities

As our WordPress developer you will be primarily responsible for:

• Developing and maintaining PHP/MySQL/HTML sites
• Front-end development –responsive builds and browser compatibility
• Suggesting improvements of builds and technology
• Gathering requirements, estimating projects, and performing approved tasks
• Communicating with our clients on tasks relating to their initiatives
• QA testing and rollout
• Creating specific pages/sites accurately following the designs
• Developing, modifying, and debugging WordPress implementations
• Troubleshooting website and technology issues across our managed platforms, including WordPress, Linux
• Working with Project Management to ensure successful, on-time delivery

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• Advanced knowledge of Wordpress and how the architecture and functions files work
• General understanding of SEO as it applies to Web Development/Design
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• 3+ years professional experience developing WordPress websites
• Ability to translate Photoshop design mockups and wireframes into working HTML templates
• Expert hands-on knowledge of standards compliant HTML, XHTML, CSS
• Expert knowledge of Javascript using jQuery
• Knowledge of mySQL database and SQL scripting
• Thorough understanding of cross platform/browser compatibility issues

Working conditions

The job requires part-time weekday work hours at the corporate offices or at home.  Some weekend or evening work may be required depending on volume.  There are minimal travel requirements.
