Trouble with custom tokens in 4.6.2?

Is anyone else having trouble with custom tokens not being replaced in 4.6.2? My custom tokens are currently just displaying as {contact.token_name} and not having the right value put it.

Example of creating a custom token:

Assigning the custom token to an existing token 'group' doesn't seem to work on our setup, ie:
contact.best_name => 'Best name';

But assigning the custom token to a new group does:
custom.best_name => 'Best name';

Not sure what would be causing this...
