When I go to create a mailing label, it does not include the contact name. Is this how it is suppose to work or am I missing something? If this is how it works, it doesn't make sense to me since I would expect that it is common practice to include a contact name along with the mailing address. Please shed some light on this.

Administer civiCRM > Global Settings > Address settings > check what is in Mailing Label Format.

From memory we were missing Name here too and just had to add it. Pretty straightforward.

Awesome! That worked, thanks for the quick reply.

One other question, is there a way for me to add additional labels? I want to add a new label for name tags, basically the name and title and possibly company name of any given contact.

Not sure why we didn't include that token by default when we made the name portion of the label configurable ?? In any case, I've fixed the default format in 2.1 so others don't have to struggle with this:
