Export of selected records exporting too many records

I'm having a problem with exporting the results of an advanced search.  For example, if the search results in 2500 contacts, and I select 'Export contacts' for 'all 2500 contacts,' CiviCRM ends up exporting what seems like the entire database (i.e., 100,000 contacts) (or it sputters out completely and brings up a blank screen).

The problem is similar to this resolved issue, but it's with an advanced search, not a smart group: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-1513

I'm using the most recent release (1.7.9682) with Drupal 5.1.

Has anyone seen this before, and have any suggestions?  Thanks.
