Disabling Payment Processing for Paid Events
June 13, 2008, 12:40:39 pm
I have a client who does not want to have any of the payment processing options available/displayed for an event listing.  They are only taking payments via check, which I have enabled the 'Enable Pay Later option?' for that purpose; however, it sames like I cannot disable the payment processing option.  Is this possible since the client does not have the budget or desire to run credit card payments at the moment.

Not in 2.0, but will be possible in 2.1

This is not good.  We are about 80% done with the project and the client just requested we remove this feature.  Is this difficult to do with some custom coding?

I think that when we were looking at having to do this, we were looking at the approach of making the PayLater option a required field. Maybe that is an easy option.

That does not answer my question.  I need to completely remove the fields/options for credit card payments and just have the PayLater option.  Is this a difficult task with some custom programming?

SUre - i will leave it to technically competent types to answer. Though I understood that on our set up no credit card fields appear on the page with the Pay Later option, therefore requiring 'pay later' meant that no one would be exposed to our payment processor - which was PayPal. Guess you have things set up differently if you see credit card fields on same page as the PayLater button.

That is strange.  Can you tell me if you are running CiviCRM with Drupal or Joomla and what version of CiviCRM are you running?  Under the event listing, it requires that I select a payment processor, but then I also select the 'Enable Pay Later' option, but the credit card fields still show up.

Drupal 2.0.4
Payment Processor = PayPal Standard

Suspect you are using a different Payment Processor.

I just set up a copy of my event, and tried it with the Dummy settings, and yes it shows the credit card fields in the same screen. So looks like I may be pointing you down a route you don't want to go. Though setting up a PayPal standard account and then not using it may be a simple solution?  ;)

Good luck

I dont think the task is difficult with some custom programming. The work has already been done for 2.1, so its a matter of a backport

You might want to contact web access from our professional services listing (http://civicrm.org/professional/) to see if they can help you out with the project

Actually, peterd posted the solution I was looking for.  Thank you for that.

One thing, right now by default CiviCRM asks for the registrants email address and also saves that as the participant name in the admin area under CiviEvent Participants.  Is there anyway to have another field for the actual name and have CiviCRM record that versus the email address as the main contact name?
