Where to put l10nupdate.php?
July 16, 2015, 09:12:43 am
Sorry if this is very stupid, but I have been searching for hours without getting anywhere:

I downloaded the l10nupdater like mentioned under Documentation reference for using CiviCRM in another language than US-English, but I miss the vital information where to put the file.

It doesn't seem to be a drupal module. So I guess it needs to sit somewhere in the CiviCRM module folder like the other l10n files for CiviCRM. But where exactly?

Hi,

Thanks for raising this issue. I agree it's not very clear in the documentation, especially when installing CiviCRM for the first time.

CiviCRM has an extension system (similar to Drupal modules). You can find the general extension documentation here:
https://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Extensions

The main admin documentation for i18n is available here:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/i18n+Administrator%27s+Guide%3A+Using+CiviCRM+in+your+own+language

You might want to initially start by downloading the l10n files manually (as described in the wiki page), then use the l10nupdate extension to keep your translations update to date (for civicrm core and other extensions).
