Edit existing records in batch form
June 14, 2008, 10:40:32 am
I want to update my Membership Records with new data in the SOURCE field.  Can I do that in a batch mode?  The Import function doesn't let me edit, I can only add new memberships.

No method to do it via UI (in 2.0).
You will need to write custom code OR If most / all of them have same SOURCE field, it would be easier / faster to do it using sql query.

OR somebody might help you with an easier solution.

Can't you just export the relevant contacts inc their Internal ID, then add a column for 'source of contact data' and then reimport pulling that column in?

Thanks.

Source of the contact data is not the same at the Source field in the Member Data.  I tried to export and import back but it can't be done with the Member section.  The result is adding new members, not updating the old.  I need the info in the Member Section to access the info there.

Sorry - should have checked where your Source field was going before I spoke. Is there wasn't lots of other data attached to your members yet  it might be worth considering an export of your members with 'everything' and reimporting as new contacts, but suspect you are past that point.
