External service using civiCRM as a core
June 14, 2008, 11:48:01 pm
Does it mean that not all civiCRM's parts are available from the drupal?

I'm currently looking into the possibility of setting up a public service, like Yellow pages, where I want the most of the information to be searchable and, to some extent registerable. I thought  that civiCRM is a good core and that it could be a good basis, not least internally. I know how to program in PHP, but I do not want to build/change on too much of civiCRM.

Is there anyone who can give me a hint, I would be grateful.

Not sure what you mean, but all of CiviCRM features are exposed via Drupal. There are some scripts which also run outside drupal (cron jobs to send a mailing etc), but all functionality is exposed via drupal (or the relevant CMS)

Sorry, I thought I sent a reply on http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic, 3614.0.html.
I have a profile with fields belonging to organization and has added custom field and they will not show externally.
Is it possible to easily encode around or do I go into the deep water?
Do you have any direct tips for my yellow pages track, projects, guides or thoughts?

thanks in advance/ orjtor

As long as ALL the fields in your profile belong to contact type Organisation - your form should work. Best bet is to set things up on our public demo server like you have on your site and see if the problem recreates - then point us to it there so we can see what you're doing.

Thanks, all fields in profile did belong to Organization. I did some changes in ACL (I think  :-\) and suddenly it did work. I´m developing on an internal server but when I'm going public I will gladly show and discribe the solution.

Thanks again! /Örjan
