Once in a while civicrm would "hang" and it's almost always a case of searching for smart group contacts, which is understandable. Temporary tables have to be created, etc.
That said, this is what the query looks like:

The amount of fields look incredibly excessive. Is this normal for smart group searches?

This could be a stackexchange topic but I feel like it's more of a discussion item.
