Connect with twitter profiles

So here's something I think would make a good feature.
I'm a non techy Civi user - so I don't know how possible this is, or have any idea how to make it happen.
- a feature that finds the social media accounts of people in your database
- I guess it could use the APIs of the various social networks to do this
- It then records the fact that someone has a particular social media account, and adds their twitter handle / link to Fb to new fields.
- It could even pull in other social information like Klout score
- Some of the paid-for campaigning packages such as Nation Builder and MailChimp have this feature, so there must be some way of doing it
- I think this would primarily be useful for people who use Civi for campaigning purposes
- It would enable us to find (for example) the most influential Twitterers in our organisation etc.

If this idea has any potential please do join the discussion

Hi - the forum here is pretty deserted these days as most discussions/questions/ideas are happening over on StackExchange (see top right)

That said, before repasting over there you might want to (re)google the blog about civicrm gsoc (google summer of code) and social media as i know there was at least one project with this as the focus, eg
