CiviCRM Distribution on Pantheon: Okay to update Core?

I'm a new user of the CiviCRM distribution on the Pantheon platform.

Is it okay to update Drupal core, or do I have to wait for an update to the CiviCRM distribution to take care of that?

I'm getting an notice that there is a security update to Drupal Core, but in another distribution I'm using for work they say I have to wait for the distribution to be updated.

I'm not familiar with Pantheon, but if it's a Drupal distribution, does it have a project page on drupal.org?

Yes, it's here - https://www.drupal.org/project/civicrm_starterkit

But the distribution on Pantheon, and confirmed on the Drupal Project page, has not been updated since October 2014.
