I serve as an Executive-in-Residence at TechTown Detroit, a not-for-profit business incubator located in Detroit. One of the businesses we support is interested in having a web-site developed to support its business activities.

The basic idea is for the site to serve a community and to provide the members of the community with on-line education resources, on-line forums, ability to sign-up for in-person workshops/courses/coaching, a place to display their work, access to job/agents, a storefront for selling their work, etc. The client intends to offer three levels of membership, with differing levels of functionality based on the level of membership.

Based on my (admittedly limited) experience with Drupal and CiviCRM, I believe that these tools could be configured to provide almost everything this client needs with little need for custom code development.
