Running CiviCRM 1.9

We recently exported our members to do envelopes and mail-merge. However, unlike the Contact Record, the Member record export did not seem to allow First and Last names to be in separate export fields.

We got by with an Excel trick to spit fields based on spaces, but it would have been much easier for the names to be split as well as the display presentation.

Did we miss something? Ideas?

CiviMember export in 1.9 / 2.0 does a "primary fields" export showing "display name" which is some combination of first & last name. Absence of selective field export makes it difficult to get them in separate fields.

So for now you will have to find out some way which you already did.

This has been fixed for 2.1 which also allows you to do selective field export.
