New setup issue with Membership/contribution and pay later
June 23, 2008, 01:00:23 am
Hi just setting up a new system for an ngo. They have membership fees but are not wanting online payments yet. So I wanted to setup a Contribution Page with Membership which would show PayLater and would offer the option of paying the Membership Fee and making a Donation, and having the former show as Member dues, and the later as another type of contribution.

This seems like it is so nearly possible and yet not quite. So I am hoping it is a setting rather than a hack or bug.

The Title Settings page requires me to specify the Contribution Type. So it looks like it has to be one-size-fits-all. (and yes if i succeed then either I see the payment including contribution all going in as one 'members due' amount, or as two separate ''members dues' amounts)

FYI

I am using a Dummy Processor

I have not checked "Execute real-time monetary transactions" in the hope that PayLater will still show (which it does)

I have "Contribution Amounts section enabled" ticked cos I want to solicit a donation too

I have "Enable pay later option" ticked (and it does show on the Live page but it does not allow me to tick it)

Membership Section Enabled - YES
Membership Types Included - YES
Require Membership - YES

Separate Membership Payment - well I tried this both ways.

I want to have the Membership amount recorded separately to the Donation. If I don't tick it, it makes the 'contribution field' required.  But if I tick this and then leave it blank, it double charges me the 'membership type' amount. (which I think is a bug)

So on the Live page I see my Membership options, I see a contribution amount box, I see a Pay Later option. Looking good.

If I have Separate Membership Payment unticked and I leave the contribution amount blank it tells me it is a required field - wasn't expecting that.

Can anyone point out if it is my settings, or bugs, or me trying to bend things till they break, or a combination of the above. cheers

So I am expecting the only options to be
- turn on "real-time monetary transactions"

or

- hack the system to have Pay Later set as required and somehow hide the Credit card payments?

AND

- set up a separate page for donations and take people to that as a secondary page (which means two transaction when we do go to live payments)?
