How can I add a donation to the membership/renewal form?

How can I add a donation to the membership/renewal form?  If I can, will they be tracked separately in CiviContribute's reporting?

Create a new membership/contribution form. Second page of the wizard is where you can configure your donation amounts. Then the third page of the wizard, enable membership sign-up and then look for the checkbox that says ' Separate Membership Payment'. Check this box. Here is what checking that box does (quoted from the question mark helper next to that checkbox):

"Check this box if you are including both Membership Signup/Renewal AND a Contribution Amount section, AND you want the membership fee to be handled as a separate transaction.

With this configuration, the membership fee is automatically charged, and users have an option to make an addtional contribution (two separate payment transactions will be generated).

If this option is NOT checked and you include a Contribution Amount section, then a single transaction is processed for their contribution amount which must at least cover the selected membership fee.

NOTE: This option is NOT available for PayPal Website Payments Standard and Google Checkout."
