Contact name vs Billing name

Ok, so I just was contact with this situation:

Admin is processing a credit card through the backend. They find the contact, begin to process the transaction, but the card is someone else's name, other than than the contact. So they put the billing name in, since the fields are available on that form. But on saving, the contact record's name is changed to match the billing name.

I tested on the 2.0 sandbox and confirmed the behavior (the form crashes because the pmt processing is not setup, but you see the name is changed anyway).

That could definitely be an issue (surprised it didn't come up earlier). I suspect it's not that unusual for someone to use a different credit card than the contact on file. Any suggested workaround? It doesn't appear the billing name is saved anywhere (besides overwriting the contact name). I think it should be saved with the contribution record for reference, and then disconnected from the contact record. The existing behavior could really mess up records if people aren't aware that the contact name is being overwritten.

Turns out this is a known issue and is fixed in 2.1.
