weird symbols

for some reason when I send an email out using civimail, some of my users are complaining that there are weird symbols throughout the email.  Some say ???? after each sentence.  Even when they forward me their emails this doesn't show up... Anyone have any ideas what the issue might be?

It sounds like the email html is specifying either a character encoding or a font that is not available on the user's systems.  Maybe you should examine the html to see if it has something unusual in a "charset=" part of the header, or a <font> tag.  It might also help if you could get one of those people to capture a screenshot (ctrl-PrtScr in Windows I think) and email it to you, so you can see what they are seeing.
