Xavier,

Everything looks fine with the forum board you mention - can you let me know what error message are you getting? Are you able to see the contents of this board at all, or does permission error happen only when you try to post? Can you check that you're logged in with proper account? This forum's user authentication is integrated with main CiviCRM site, so if you logged out there, you might have been logged out on the forum as well.

Thx,
m

http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,26.0.html

On that board, I can read no problem, but I don't have the "NEW TOPIC" button.

On any of the posts, I can read but I don't have the "REPLY" button.

So, in short, read only forum from here, at least for me

Ok, let's start wild speculations and conspiracy theories ;)

that board has been set to read only. 2.1 is not in alpha or beta state as yet. I suspect when we push 2.1 to alpha, we'll move all current topics to a sub-folder and allo folks to post on that board

ok,

What's the right way of throwing in suggestion/remarks/questions about the sandbox ?

eg. the one about hierarchical groups.

feature requests and suggestions for now?

might be an appropriate board for now.

We are getting into the home strech for the 2.1 code freeze. We would definitely like to avoid making any major changes in functionality at this stage

Sure about the feature freeze.

However, some new features could be IMO useful in a broader range of cases than the one you designed it for. eg:
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,3899.0.html

As for the process, could you clarify how/when to give input on the new features when it's convenient for you ?

eg. for the hierarchical groups, I knew it was in the pipe and some of the code (eg. the parent id in the table) is there since quite a few months, but I stumbled upon the interface in the sandbox while looking for something else.

You did a fantastic job to gather requirements and asked what new features we're looking for, but I missed the chance to do the same on a more "low level" stage during the actual implementation, is that something you expect only once that's alpha, hence the read only of the forum ?

for the larger issues, we do a pretty detailed spec on jira (and potentially wiki/blog) and folks are welcome to comment on it

nestable groups has some history behind it. The first version of the code was contributed by the code for change project and they had a pretty active blog / description about it a year ago. Parts of the code were integrated with 2.0 but were not exposed since we were not comfortable with it from a performance perspective etc

A few months ago we got a consulting contract with PIRG to get nestable groups in core along with quite a few other things (http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/USPIRG+Project). As such the main focus has been to ensure that the current implementation meets PIRG's needs for phase 1 while meeting our 2.1 release cycle dates. We are still working out various issues and as such i'd consider it a work in progress

we do appreciate the feedback :)

Yes, that I saw, but in my experience, feed back on the real tool for ergonomical issue/label and wording are quite useful just after the dev. (something you can't get until it's developed, but that become painful to do if it's too long after the initial dev.

I've experienced it, and I do appreciate how much you're open to it ;) !
