mark preferred email address of non-primary location for bulk mailings
July 08, 2008, 07:01:37 am
Hi

Is it possible to mark the preferred email address of a non-primary location as the one to be used for bulk mailings? I only see the check box for additional email addresses.

Thank you!

Looks like a bug, can you file an issue for this in jira.

thanx

I am re-opening this topic because it appears to me that whereas the Jira bug was declared as "fixed in r17148" on 19/Sep/08, I am using CiviCRM ID: 7298, which I think is later.

In my CiviCRM (2.1.1 of course), I don't see this fix. To be clear:

In an additional (non-primary) location which has only one email address associated with it, I see no "Use for Bulk Mailing" checkbox. I see that checkbox only for additional emails.

If I misunderstood the Jira bug and fix, please clarify.

Thank you.

This bug has been fixed for 2.2

Its a relatively simple patch if you want to backport it to your 2.1 install (check the fisheye tab on the issue to see the patch)

I applied the patch and the option is now there, but when I set someone who has no primary location email but has a non-primary location wiith mail to have that non-primary email the 'bulk' email and then I did a search for group members, the number of "email-able" contacts didn't change. Not sure, but it didn't seem to affect the functionality of the 'send email to contacts' feature.

To be clear: Contact Sally has primary addr and secondary. Primary has no email. Secondary does. I checked off "Use for Bulk Mailing" by the secondary email but it seems she is still not going to get the email I want to send.
