adding participants to events
July 08, 2008, 02:18:20 pm
currently the way to add participants to an event, is by searching for the participant, and adding them to the event,  is there away to do the reverse.. search for the event, and then add participants to that event?

CousiMo,

No, there is no such functionality in CiviEvent, I'm also not sure if I understand your requirements well enough to suggest solution. If you could describe your use case in more detailed way, perhaps we can find a solution that would cater to your needs.

Thx,
m

currently
step 1   find participant
step 2   event tab
step 3   add new registration
step 4   include past events
step 5   submit

suggestion
step 1   locate the event
step 2   add particpants to this event
step 3   using the AJAX contact search to find participants to add or to bring up the participants information and then hitting add

when adding alot of participants its easier to add them the suggested way,

Hey,

You might want to try out "Add contacts to Event" on "Find contacts" screen (one of actions available in pull down menu after you mark any checkboxes in search results).

Thx,
m

Michal,

your suggestion works great when i do a search on an event, and i add 20 out of the 30 contacts listed to an event, but if i am doing a search for individual contacts, the suggested way still has too many steps to add them to an event,

is there an ability to add someone to an event directly from the event - ie. not have to search for that person & then go into that person & add them to the event from that person's page.

perhaps have the "contact search" function within the event "find participant" window, and when you click on the contact name it adds them to the event.

thanks for your reply

CousiMo,

I don't think there are any plans to implement this kind of functionality in nearest releases. However, you might want to propose specific implementation of this feature by providing us with the specification (on the wiki and than potentially contributing work/resources into implementation.

Thx,
m
