Change status of participants from listing page
July 09, 2008, 03:47:29 am
When using CiviEvent, we would like to be able to change the status of a participant from the listing page.

In our workflow, people call to express an interest in a course and are marked as pending, subject to the approval of the training team.

The training team are able to review the pending participants from the listing, and would like to be able to select those trainees marked as pending and change them all to registered at the same time.

We are able to select particular participants, but the menu of options to deal with the selected participants doesn't seem to have the facility to change the status.  I am not sure what could be done with "Batch Update participants with profile".  Is that the way to go ?

Would it be possible to have a change status option in the menu ?

Thanks,
Peter

Ok I found an earlier post with some clues http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,2328.0.html that suggested that bulk update via profile was the way to go.

I read through the profile documentation, but still not completely confident about it.  Created a profile called participant profile which had only Participant > participant status in it.  Once this profile was created, choosing bulk update via profile gave the option of choosing a profile. Selecting that gives a very pleasant listing with the ability to change status, and propagate the change in the first line to all entries.

So it works, thanks!  Would it be possible to make all of this a bit more accessible ?  At the very least, it would be good for CiviCRM to ship with a few example profiles, the experts can discard them forthwith, but those of us who are fumbling in the dark would at least have the odd lamp post to cling to!

Peter,

CiviCRM is shipped with one example profile, although it's not viable for CiviEvent. I guess the path you went through (searching for hints on the forum and getting through the documentation) is pretty usual way to get the knowledge that we can easily support.

There is a couple of different uses for profile and we would have to ship default database with a couple of different example profiles in order to cover all of them, which might make the cleanup a little bit troublesome.

Thx,
m

Peter - If you can think of ways to beef up the documentation / provide links and tips etc that would make this easier for others, it would be great if you jumped in and added them (it's a wiki :-) ). Or at minimum you could point us to some spots where you looked and got stuck or confused. thx!
