confusing import record count

On step 3 in the import wizard, the record count is the number of actual records. On step 4, it appears to be a sum of both the actual records in the import csv and the number of additional records created. For example, I was doing an import of 85 individuals, 78 had an org associated with them many of which were repeated (33 organizations were created), and the total rows (contact records) reported in uploaded files and imported successfully was 151. I'm happy to provide the file privately for testing. It said I had added 118 to a particular group, which makes sense since 85 + 33 = 118. Not sure what other numbers are from.

An alternative theory is that I went back and forth between steps 2 and 3 in the wizards as i cleaned up my file to resolve import errors with country names, etc., and perhaps this did something?

In any case, it would be nice though not crucial to fix up this message to indicate how many of each type of contact was created, and perhaps even use the counting method from the real import in the test results for step 3.

Hi,

I never been surprised by the total, and indeed the related (eg employer) seems to be part of it. You are right about the number, it'd be clearer To have separated them into individual and organisation to clarify.

I didn't find an issue created about it already, I'd suggest you add one, so your suggestion isn't forgotten ?

Joe - Problems w/ the Summary counts were noted and (hopefully) corrected in this 2.1 issue:
http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3123

Would be great if you could test your case on the sandbox and verify the fixes.
