How to include event options in event registration?
July 14, 2008, 06:18:51 pm
I've created an event for our organization, but we need the participants to choose their retreat track as well. I've created a custom data set called "retreat tracks" that have the options listed as radio buttons, but I don't see how to include it in the event details- I only have the option of including a Profile, which doesn't let me do just a list of radio buttons.

thanks!

Hi,

Create a profile that contains only the fields you've just created, and add this profile to the event.

BTW, you can also add custom fields to participants (ie. on a per event basis) instead of adding them to the contact.

Not sure I understand what you're suggesting. What I need to include in the event registration is a list of radio buttons for the 13 different tracks that someone could select from when registering. I created a custom data set  but it doesn't appear in the event registration form. I have tried creating a profile, but the profile only offers me options for name, address, phone, etc. It doesn't let me build a list that someone can choose from.

The profile asks me for the field name (have to pick individuals, organizations, households, etc.) but none of those then offers me a field for radio buttons.

Not sure what you mean about custom data set. Is it a custom field you added for individuals ?

In that case, it's on the list of the fields you can add on the profile.

Re: How to include event options in event registration?

Our organization is having a retreat next spring, so I've created a civievent and it works- meaning I can go to the form, fill it in, enter my cc info, and pay for and register for the retreat. At the retreat we have different tracks (like classes) and we would like people who are registering online to select one (of 13) tracks so we can know who will be signed up for the various tracks.

How can I include the list of tracks in the civievent registration form?

I have a custom data set (civicrm admin -> customize -> custom data) created with the tracks (using radio buttons) but can't seem to get it into the form. When I look at the details for this custom data set it says "Used for Events Conference".
In the civievent settings (manage events -> configure event -> online registration) there's an option to "Include Profile (bottom of page)". I have selected my custom data set ("Retreat Tracks") but it doesn't show up on the page. (I have used the "Include profile top of page" for the custom profile for the person's name, address, etc. and that works fine)

Does that make sense?

I figured it out finally! Oy....in true drupal/ccrm fashion there are three things one needs to do first before you can do what you actually want to do....

Created a custom field for "Participants"
Then you create a profile and select participants and the custom data set is then available.
Then you add that profile to the registration form.....

oh, sweet success....

Well done.

As said not very clearly, you could have done the same at the participant level instead of the individual level.

Same idea, but you could have a per event instead of a per contact value.
