Can only access new installation from localhost
July 15, 2008, 05:10:39 pm
My Drupal installation has been working for quite awhile, probably a year or so.  I just added CiviCRM on top.  Everything works fine on localhost but if I try to click on the CiviCRM menu item on a remote browser I get a 404.  Drupal appears to be working fine.  Any idea what I have set incorrectly?  A log I can look at?

I wouldn't think its an Apache issue since Drupal seems fine.

John:

Check your "Resource Urls" in Global Settings.

Thanks that was part of the problem but the more serious issue was that the installation set the BASE URL to localhost instead of the real hostname.

So I just installed civiCRM on Joomla, on a windows machine running WAMP latest version as of this writing, and it the civiCRM component only "works" on the localhost machine, not on the others on the network. Well, the dashboard loads on the other computers, but it is very slow, and unrendered. No links, or graphics/formatting, just plain text.

Any ideas?

From Kurunds' post about the resource URL, thanks! That helped get the front end component to load on other machines, but I am unable to "do" anything on any machine but the localhost.
I can't look-up any contact info, and I think I am running into the same issue now that johnelle was in his post. How do I reset the BASEURL to the real hostname instead of localhost? (remote machines still trying to load 'localhost' in the URL for civi)

Thanks for any and all help.
