Membership Custom Data Fields and Contribution pages

Is is possible to assign profiles with Membership custom data fields to Contribution pages? I'm trying to add some custom data fields to my Contribution page, but some of them don't show up. The Contact fields show up, but the Membership fields do not.

dlobo (on IRC) suggested that we enable the 'access all custom data' permission for anonymous users...that fixed it!

I can not get it to work in 4.0.1
Is there anything I missed?
