Problem using a file custom field on an event registration

Hi,

I'm trying to let the registrants to an event upload an image (to publish a nicer list of participants.)

It doesn't work, and it seems like I've bumped into this issue :

Could you clarify when it happens ? only on wizards (multi steps), or even if using simple profiles ? or only if the user isn't authenticated ?

I'm not sure I understand what triggers the problem, nor how to work around.

I'm looking for a workaround, one idea I had was to plug in the confirmation page a link to the participant contact, with a a profile that only provides the file attribute I want them to upload the image into ?

Otherwise, I'd go for dirty _FILES kind of hack in the confirmation php, but as the id of the participant isn't yet created, I'm feeling that's going to be a really dirty road, I'd rather avoid.

Any suggestion more that welcome !

since i've been doing a fair amount of work on file attachments, i'm taking another look at this and see what needs to be done to make this happen

i'll have an update over the next 24 hours or so

Contribution pages now allow custom file uploads in trunk. I've just updated sandbox and you should be able to test the changes there. We suppress custom field(s) of type 'file' in the confirm/thank you/receipt (since it opens up a few permissioning questions)

Event registration has also been fixed and modified. You might want to give it a whirl and see if we need to make any changes.

I've also made some significant sweeping changes to all our file upload code. So i potentially have broken a few things. please let me know, if so on this forum topic :)
