Adding memberships for contacts

The main page for CiviMember (at drupal/civicrm/member?reset=1) says:

Quote
To record memberships manually for individual contacts, use Find Contacts to locate the contact. Then click View to go to their summary page and click on the New Membership link.

I'm looking at a contact page (say, drupal/civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=103) and I can't see that link anywhere.
In the HTML source I can see a section called 'Memberships' but it's empty and it's not visible.

This should say "... click on the Memberships tab." I've corrected the help text for 2.1. If you're not seeing a Memberships tab like the one on this page -
http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=102

... check Global Settings >> Site Preferences ... Viewing Contacts
