Event Confirmation Errors - Profile Related
July 24, 2008, 05:15:57 am
I'm using a few profiles in my event registration form to collect some custom participant data.  After the data is collected and a payment submited, this is the kind of information that gets fed into the response e-mail.

===========================================================
Billing Information
===========================================================
 0 : 1

===========================================================
Walker Information
===========================================================
 0 : 3

The data that's actually collected is COMPLETELY different that this (obvoiusly).

Does anyone know what might be causing this?  Or how to fix it?

Hey,

Could you pass a little bit more information about your specific setup? It's difficult to figure out what might be the problem based on how you currently describe the issue. Also, you might want to create a similar setup on demo site (http://demo.civicrm.org/) and see if the same problem shows up there.

Thx,
m

Sorry... probably should have done that to start with.

PHP 5.2.6
MySQL 5.0.51
Apache 2.0.63
CiviCRM 2.0.5
Joomla 1.5.3 (yes... I know it's "not supported" but my client has to use it.  The legacy plugin is on)

The even registration screen has two profiles on it.

1) A profile requesting contact information (so that it integrates with the contact in CiviCRM)
2) A series of custom fields requesting information like Walker Names and Shirt Sizes (for a walkathon).

If you run through the whole registration, everything works right up until the e-mail confirmation goes out.  CiviCRM DOES collect the information and log it, but the e-mail that goes out seems to merge info in incorrectly (as my copy and paste shows).

Anything else that would be helpful?

Anyone?  I should mention that I saw this problem with CiviCRM 2.0 on a Joomla 1.0 installation back in the beta stage too.  I brought it up back them, but it didn't go anywhere last time either.  Whatever the cause, I really don't think it's tied to Joomla 1.5.

Lance:

Can you try to reproduce this on our sandbox (2.1) site. http://sandbox.civicrm.org/ (as per a prior request by michal)

if we can reproduce it on sandbox, we'll have a better idea of whats happening and come out a fix :)

Lobo,

I'd love to try to reproduce it on the sandbox.  Based on the way CiviCRM is designed, would you recommend testing it on a Joomla 1.5 version of the sandbox?  Or does it matter?

sandbox is on drupal 6.3. Most likely the bug will be present on all CMS's, so it does not matter.

I've tried to dupe this on the SandBox, but I can't seem to get it to e-mail me.  Since there was no mail server setup for it to send me mail, I temporarily set the system up with the mail server and account that I'm using on my live install now.  No dice.  I signed up and then tried to issue a confirmation and it said that it sent a confirmation, but I didn't get one.

Steps
1. Start registration on the live Bug Test Event page
2. Once you get to the payment part (PayPal Website Payments Standard), you have to bail out because it doesn't seem to be referring to my PayPal developer sandbox account the way it's supposed to.
3. I went into the backend of CiviEvent, found the pending registration, and updated it to full Attendee status with a logged payment and the box to send a confirmation checked.

No confirmation was sent.

Any ideas?

The system does not send mail to avoid using our demo server as a "spam relay". I've switched the config to log the mail instead

Also you can use the "pay later" option and avoid going to a payment processor (faster to test and debug)

OK... I registered again... this time with a Pay Later and then I confirmed it on the backend (making sure I checked the box to send a confirmation).  Is there a way I can access the log or is that something you have to do?

Wierd... that's exactly what it should be.  I wonder why my install isn't doing that (in fact I haven't been able to get it to do that in 2.0).

I just tried it again using the steps that I described below and it worked.  The only thing I know that I did differently between this testing (via the Pay Later and back end CiviCRM) and the time that I generated the error is that the time I generated an error, I was using a Test Page and the PayPal SandBox.  Would the Test Page possibly do that if you followed all the way through the test payment?
