CiviCRM module / plugin / extension examples
July 27, 2008, 10:13:35 pm
I'm interested in building a drop-in component which extends CiviCRM's functionality by adding an admin screen, navigation section, and per-contact tabs.

I'm looking for CiviCRM modules which achieve this - preferably "clean" ones, ie that don't rely on Drupal or Joomla to function. The simpler and more "hello world", the better IMO. I found this forum post from last year: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,1849.0.html

Can anyone recommend some good samples to consider? Anything that's appeared on the horizon since Michal's advice at the above link? (He recommends CiviEvent, CiviVoter, CiviContribute. Two of those ship with CiviCRM, and thus it's not obvious where CiviEvent or CiviContribute end and "core" begins.

I know that CRM/ is CiviCRM, and CRM/Contribute is CiviContribute, but if I add CRM/HelloWorld, what are the steps to having CiviCRM recognise the new HelloWorld component?

There is a "Touchstone" module which is supposed to be a sample. We'll ensure that this is complete and working for 2.1. You can track the issue here: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3358
