Delay when recurring contributions start
July 28, 2008, 07:44:07 pm
I am currently using the recurring payments feature in my CiviContribute pages. PayPal Standard is the payment processor. When a visitor sets up a recurring payment, the first installment is done immediatly.  Many visitors have asked if they could choose when the first installment will take place. Such as they visit they visit the website on Oct. 15, 2008 and set up a recurring contribution of $100 per month for 12 months. They would like the first installment to occur on Jan 1, 2009, then monthly after that. The last installment should be Dec. 1, 2009.

I have checked the Pay Pal API for recurring payments. They support a "free trial" period for subscriptions that could be used. For my scenario above, there could be a "free trial" of 10 weeks, then a paid subscription processed monthly for 12 installments.

Thanks,
Sarah

This seems like a good feature to have - assuming we can figure out how to do it w/ PP Std (and potentially general enough for others to implement for other processors). I've added an issue to the queue for 2.2 (2.1 is in code freeze now).
