Display Profile information only for Certain Groups

I've created a custom set of data for a group and then created a profile to add that custom data to an individuals profile and set it only to be displayed for a certain group however, when I go to edit any profile, even if that member is not a member of that group it still shows that information. How do you make it so that that information does not show up in their profile if they are not a member of the group that that data is set for?

So, Basically, I'm building a Church Website and in this website I have a group MOPS (Mothers of preschoolers) I don't want to see that group specific information when I search for a contact and edit it if they do not belong to the MOPS group.

I dont think we have a feature where you can display a profile to only a certain group. (this is possible via ACL's but a bit more steps are involved)
I dont think you are using ACL's.

Can u elaborate on what you did to "set it only to be displayed for a certain group"

Would the mod I did for Joomla to allow groups to be used to control access to profiles also work for Drupal? It was fairly straightforward for Joomla but I wouldn't have any idea for Drupal. I understood that setting up ACLs and Roles was the preferred way to do this and my workaround was only useful in the J-world.
