Blank Page on ALL CiviCRM links in Joomla 1.0.15
August 03, 2008, 08:18:30 am
I have a hosted site that is running PHP 5 and Apache. After getting the host company to install the CiviCRM component for me (it would install using either the upload of directory procedures) all I get is a blank page when attempting to reach any of the component links in the Joomla backend (e.g. CiviCRM Home). I have installed and used this component on a couple of different computers for development, and have no problems making it work. I have added in the two necessary lines in the index.php file for sessions in Joomla 1.0.x, and just can't progress beyond that. It is very frustrating. Any help will be very much appreciated. I do not have access to the Apache logs -- just the Plesk control panel.

Blank page almost always indicates a timeout. Have you adjusted the memory_limit and max_execution_time settings in PHP? Do a forum search if you need guidance on altering .htaccess/php.ini.

The blank page was not caused by a timeout. The page was returned almost instantaneously, and was blank. After a royal "come to Jesus" meeting with the hosting company they upgraded PHP to 5.2.6 and restarted Apache. They were on PHP 5 when I first saw the problem, so I'm not certain if the upgrade of PHP or the restart of Apache solved the problem. It has been a very frustrating 3 weeks, and I am glad to finally be able to get back into the Joomla! backend and begin setting up the data again.
