Installing soaplite on shared server with no command-line access?
August 03, 2008, 03:10:47 pm
Hi,

I'm after installing CiviCRM and am finding it really useful.  I'm endeavouring to get CiviMail up and running, and am finding it pretty complicated, though have really appreciated the apparently simpler approach offered by IMAP2SOAP.

However, after running the cron job I'm getting the message

Code: [Select]
Can't locate SOAP/Lite.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.7/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.6/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8 .) at /hsphere/local/home/vajrashura/dbcdatabase.info/database/sites/all/modules/civicrm/bin/imap2soap.pl line 78.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /hsphere/local/home/vajrashura/dbcdatabase.info/database/sites/all/modules/civicrm/bin/imap2soap.pl line 78.

So I'm guessing I don't have Soap Lite installed.  Trying to install soap lite, I come pretty quickly against the fact that I don't have command line access to the server, only ftp and control panel access.  On the support page

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Alternative+configuration+with+imap2soap.pl+-+no+Amavis+or+root+access

there's a section specifically about this where it gives instruction to install using the CPAN module.  But this requires command line access, it seems.  Am I mistaken or is there another way around this?

Thanks in advance.  My host runs perl 5.8, by the way and it's a UNIX server.  I'm a bit of a beginner at perl, as you can tell....

What control panel does you server use? cPanel? Plesk? You might be able to install it through that. Depends if you host has locked it down.

If they have then call them and see if they will install it.

Hi speleo,

It's H-SPHERE.  I've looked over it and I can't see where one would install it from.  You can see a demo of H-SPHERE at this address:

https://cp.securedc.com/

I'll get back in contact with the support team for my host in the meantime.

Thanks,
VS.

If you draw a blank here, perhaps you might be interested in the idea of processing bounces with php:
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,2505.0.html

I would like to find some others interested to develop the idea.
