Why does CiviCRM sometimes operate in slomo?
August 05, 2008, 11:00:13 am
We're on a dedicated server so I know it's not a server load issue.

Using civievent I entered a new event just a little while ago.

However, I have now been waiting several minutes for the civievent page to load from the civicrm main menu.

This is not the first time, it happens pretty often, also with civimail. Not always though.
My worst fear is that the rhythm really is going to get me.

1. What version of CiviCRM?

2. Can you enable mysql query logging and see what queries are being run when its "taking a long time". In the past we've had runaway conditions when we did not check edge conditions etc

3. If you dont have access to the query log, can you try doing something similar to sandbox and see if it takes a long time

I sympathize with you.  I was having similar issues and here is what we did.  I hope one of these solutions will solve your problem.

1) We had our admin check the server for a memory leak from other software.
2) We increased our php memory limit to 128M
3) We did a graceful restart on our machine
4) We updated the latest version of Drupal (not sure if you're using drupal)
5) We updated to the latest version of CiviCRM

Since then we have not had any problems.  I hope that one of these suggestions points you in the right direction.
