Default data on new pledge

When "New Pledge" is selected, the following fields begin with data:

To be paid in
Payments are due on the

There doesn't seem to be anywhere in Global Settings or a section in "Administer" to set these defaults.

These are 'hard-coded' for now. We're open to suggestions about better hard-coded defaults (easy to change) - or if you think it's better to keep them blank. Admin configurable defaults could be a feature to "phase 2" if needed.

OK!

If the period is going to default to monthly then the count should be 12.  Unless others feel differently, most of us who take pledges probably take them for a budget year.

I'd also say that day 1 of the period is more logical a default than 3....

In the long term, admin configurable would definitely make the app more flexible.

Based on your typical cases, do you think it would be better to leave these fields empty be default for new pledges?

I think that empty is better than 1 month on the 3rd.  12 months beginning on the 1st is better than empty.

Sample data communicates to the user how the field is to be filled.

Thank you very much for your commitment and interest in making this software great for users!!

I've made the change to new pledge defaults (12 months, payable on the 1st day...).

Not sure how much you've tested and explored the full set of Pledge features and functions. Since this is a brand new component - we definitely need folks who plan on using it to pound on it quite a bit :-). I can't promise we can meet 100% of your needs / use cases - some things might get postponed to 'phase 2'. But we'd sure like to take this into 'stable' with something that's useful and relatively bug-free.

Thanks for your review and feedback so far.

You're welcome!

One of my staff, who regularly administers our internal db for pledges and payments, will spend some testing time on the demo in the next couple of days and I'll report back...

Well, my test report was moved, I'm guessing because of the "flaw" I noted is a "feature" and we're post code freeze?

How did you envision that the pledge data would be used in this version?
